Gatsby was wasted. There was something about this tour that was making him completely reckless. Here he was, in broad daylight, in the middle of the city, in a place where he was recognised as a celebrity, wearing sunglasses indoors, snorting loudly when he laughed and eating sushi with his hands. Gatsby hadn’t slept in days. The drugs were keeping him awake.

Gatsby had been sitting in this restaurant for the best part of two hours, eating sushi without any dignity and drinking sake. It was only after this time had elapsed that he realised that he had never texted Avery, the person he kept telling everyone that he was meeting. She was such a dead on girl. He smiled and sent the text message he had intended to send hours ago: “WANT TO MEET ME AT SUSHI PLACE DOWN TOWN? FROM GATSBY X” Yes, Gatsby was one of those people. The people who write their text messages in capital letters and sign the end of them. He wasn’t very technologically aware.

Gatsby ordered another sake, picked up a California roll with his left hand and looked at his phone expectantly for a conformational text message. He just assumed that Avery would drop everything to come and meet him. He couldn’t help but think that he had been waiting for her for two hours and it would simply be rude if she didn’t show up. In fairness, she didn’t know she was supposed to be there. Gatsby shrugged this thought off, and sipped his sake.

Avery only drank alcohol substance, every once and awhile and she only drank a little when she did. She didn't like to feel out of control, when she did, she usually got completely annoyed afterwards, and no one likes an annoyed Avery. She wasn't on drugs or smoke anything that she thought was nonsense. But she was trying on one of her favorite black dresses, when she heard her phone buzzing against her bedroom counter, she let out an irritated sigh since the reminder that she might be called to interview one of the cunts on tour. She read Gatsby's name and then part of the message, before she pushed down on the view button, she rolled her eyes, and decided to just enlighten herself, "Sure, i'll see you there in a few.". she sent him and decided to just finish getting dressed. She pulled out a white over jacket with three quarter length sleeves and a bow put on around her neck, acting like a choker. She put on her make up and slipped on a pair of white and black shoes and was off the this sushi place.

She pulled out her phone, putting the ear phones in letting it blast, "situations" and just decided to take a taxi to the restaurant cause she didn't know if the two of them would end up walking. When the taxi driver pulled up, she tossed the guy his money and a small tip and was off to inside. She glanced around, until her eyes landed on him and walked over, sitting down across from him, and it didn't take her long before she could sense that he was on something, "Hello Gatsby, what did you take before coming here?" she asked, trying to make her sentence sound a little more friendly, but she wasn't very good at playing nice, at times.

Gatsby was extremely pleased when Avery confirmed that she was coming to meet him, “She will see me in a few!” He announced to the whole restaurant and all of the people nodded or averted their eyes. He had said this earlier in his visit, a couple of times in fact. He began eating more of his California rolls and the waiter put a pint of water on his table. Gatsby looked at it with scrutiny and looked questioningly at the waiter who whispered, “You need it, dude.”

Gatsby nodded and drank some of his iced water. The thirst that overwhelmed him was unbelievable and he chugged most of the pint in ten seconds. Gatsby was wiping his mouth with the back of his arm when Avery sat down across from him. He grinned at her and did a little wave. “What did you take before coming here?” She asked him. Gatsby rolled his eyes, “Nothing I can’t handle.” He scoffed and attracted the attention of the waiter, “She’ll have some delicious sushi and some sake please.” He informed him, turned to Avery for confirmation and then allowed the waiter to leave.

“You look hot today, Avery.” He told her with a leering grin. He shook his head a little bit, trying to shake these thoughts from his mind. He took another swig of his iced water and then studied her with his dark eyes with confusion. She didn’t seem as happy as he was expecting.

The pale skinned female wasn't very good with emotions, she just didn't like feeling them except for anger. She worked best with it, she knew what it brought and didn't like thinking about the word "love". It just wasn't one of her goals, and often found herself irritated with ignorance. It was a common mistake on most people on the entire planet. But she wasn't blind, she could see that her appearance to meet Gatsby had brought on a lot of shocked stares. It kind of made her wonder, how long he had been here; however, she wasn't to worried about asking about that piece of information.

She was getting pretty thirsty, she hadn't had something to drink for awhile now, she lifted an eyebrow at his answer to what he took, she rolled her eyes, "That doesn't answer anything, makes me think that you're not saying it because i'm an interviewer." she said, teasing him at the end. She had learned recently, that she was capable of picking back at these people. And she liked very few people on the tour, it wasn't that she was picky...that's obviously a lie. Her eyebrow stay risen when she heard him ordering for her and she hadn't been sitting down for five minutes, it slightly annoyed her, "Mountain dew, as well." she added to her little meal. She was trying to get it in her head, that he didn't do it to get on her nerves, some guys did it to be sweet. And noticed when the waiter left their area.

Hearing his compliment, she couldn't help but the corners of her lips flashed a smile before turning into a smirk, "More than just hot, Gatsby." she corrected, she wasn't going to lie, she thought very highly of her looks. She figured her emotions was based on the fact that she was heavily guarded and protective over herself. She was going to have to have a glass of wine or something, to unwine and get herself off her high horse. "So why the sudden gathering?" she asked him, not sure if this was suppose to be a date or not. And she wasn't going to call it a date, she was weird on dates and felt like she would be the worse possible candidate for dating purposes.

sink or swim, hit or miss, man over board

Gatsby couldn’t deny it: he was enjoying her annoyance. He liked that she had noticed that he had dodged her question. It had taken Gatsby a long time to learn how to do it and he was glad that it was being noted. Or maybe he shouldn’t be glad about that, was it not the whole point for the answer to be slipped in unnoticed? Maybe Avery was just a very good interviewer. He decided to roll with that answer, no one else had ever called him up on it. He smirked and shrugged his shoulders, “I’m not supposed to talk to your kind about things like that.” He teased her. Gatsby had not had much experience with the press in the UK, but here in America, he had learned to be very careful what he said as his words had been twisted beyond recognition twice already.

Gatsby grinned when Avery welcomed his compliment and added to it. Gatsby hated it when girls didn’t accept compliments, it made him feel like he shouldn’t bother being positive towards them if they were just going to turn it into a negative. “Damn straight!” He enthused. Gatsby rubbed his hands, which were coated in soy sauce, on his black skinny jeans until they were clean, then he drank some more of his water and felt a little less like a monkey sitting with a beautiful woman and more like a stupid teenage boy.

Avery asked why he had asked to meet her and Gatsby feigned hurt, “Can’t a rock star invite a beautiful young woman out for dinner without it being construed as something?” He asked her incredulously. In all honesty, Gatsby had invited her because he really liked her, but he couldn’t really say that, could he? He ruffled his hair with his left hand and began to drink Sake again, feeling it warm his heart and enslave his mind. “Why did you come if you were wary?” He asked her with a wicked smile. The waiter returned and presented them with some delicious sushi. Gatsby ordered more California rolls from the waiter who looked bewildered as to where Gatsby was putting all of this food.

Avery was anything but stupid, graduating the top of her class and having everyone hate her by the end of graduating ceremonies by her speech and for the fights that have happened through her high school years; they wouldn't be surprised if she didn't show up for the ten year reunion. She was a very complicated creature, everyone had a difficult time to learn what exactly annoyed her. She noticed that Gatsby seemed like it was fun, the sad thing is for her, it annoyed her more and that was making her having to scale it down even more. So, she was finding herself doing a lot of work. Hearing his response and using your kind, like being an interviewer was some sort of disease. She glanced up at him, shooting him a glare, "I'm going to tell the world that you have an infectious disease then." she teased back, but she knew that she had the balls enough to actually do it.

Never the one to take ashamed to even negative comments about her, she knew that most of the ignorant fucks out there was just jealous of her. She heard him and playfully rolled her eyes, "I guess, you look okay. Since you just wiped your hands on your jeans." she said, the making shrugged her shoulders, "You're such a guy." she teased, glancing towards people's movements. She couldn't help that she was overly observant.

Hearing his response, she smirked, "Well thank you, I am quite beautiful, gorgeous even." she responded back; people would think her ego grew three sizes that day. Truth was, her ego could never really grow as much as it was, but no one had to worry about her getting depressed for that reason. She heard the question, and shrugged her shoulders, "i was already dressed and you don't make me want to murder you, so...why not?" she said, in a teasing voice, but she was being honest. She glanced down when her food arrived in-front of her and got chop sticks from the waiter and started eating the sushi with them.

what if the devil was a lie

Gatsby laughed a little too loudly when Avery threatened that she would tell people he had an infectious disease. He supposed it wasn’t something to laugh about but he couldn’t help himself. It was so surprising to him. “Keep it light, Avery, tell them it’s syphilis or something.” He joked and rolled his eyes. He frowned for a second, realising that syphilis was a pretty serious accusation but he knew – or rather he hoped – that this was all a joke. It was hard to know considering Avery was part of the media.

Shrugging his shoulders, Gatsby held up his now clean hands and chuckled, “My dashing face and my luscious locks usually seal the deal, having clean clothes is irrelevant!” Gatsby said, a little more eloquently than anyone would have expected. He lifted a piece of sushi and stuffed it into his mouth. Then he gave her a dashing smile and turned his head to the right, revealing the best side of his face – his left side. Gatsby lifted one of the tiny ceramic mugs and filled it with sake. He took a long drink of the rice wine and smiled. When he first tried sake he had hated it, but like with everything alcoholic, if he drank it enough, he loved it.

Gatsby laughed too loudly at her response to why she had come. He slapped the table with his hand and then put his hands on his knees, “That’s just what every man wants to hear!” He continued to laugh and then shook his head, “I’m glad you don’t want to murder me!” He reached out for his sake and took another drink. He looked at his water, the ice now melted, and shook his head, he didn’t want any stupid water anymore.

Gatsby jumped when he saw her using chopsticks. Chopsticks confused him, why did they work? He didn’t think he had that sort of control over his hands in order to manoeuvre two match sticks in order to pick up food, “Dude, I can’t believe you dabble in that witchcraft!” Gatsby said incredulously, pointing to her chopsticks. He picked up a California roll with his hand and put it in his mouth and smiled at her, “This is so much easier.” He told her with his mouth still full.

Avery glanced back from her glancing around the room, she was trying to avoid further playing with an idea that there was a chance for this was going to be a date. She heard him, lifting an eyebrow and let out a small short giggle, "Of course, i'll give you a daily dose of the clap, too." she answered, lightly drizzled with sarcasm. Now that she thought about it, she wouldn't do that to Gatsby, at least, not in this level of their relationship.

Hearing him, she rolled her eyes, "Except with me." she teased back, she really didn't care. Shocking as that sound, there are some things that she just complained about to just do it. Then she let out a sigh, acting like what she was about to say was absolutely terrible, "Your face is quite nice." she said, saying probably her first compliment to someone, ever; other than a select of the people that she's came in contact with. She picked up the steak knife and fork and begin, nibbling at the food source. She liked hers medium rare; for flavors sake.

Hearing his infectious laugh and listened to his comments and cracked a smile when she heard him tell her that he was glad that he didn't make her want to murder him. She took a sip of her drink, "Me too, I wouldn't be able to wear my pretty dress." she responded, to him. she took a bite out of her steak, it tasted absolutely wonderful.

When she moved on to her sushi and the chopsticks, his movements made her glance up to them and she let out a giggle, "Of course, I forgot my witch hat at home." she responded back, adding in a small shrug, and started playing with the idea that she actually might like him more than she anticipated. She watched him and heard him with a mouth full of food, "You're such a goofball." she said, actually leaving her smile on her face. She picked up one and threw it at him, "Ups." she teased, then adding, "It slipped." she felt herself smirking towards him now. She knew that by now her teasing was her way of flirting.

what if god did not exist

Gatsby nodded with a little too much enthusiasm at the idea of Avery implying that he had the clap. He supposed it was better than syphilis and he was keen to avoid that label. He honestly hoped that this was all a hypothetical joke and not a serious threat. He assumed that Avery was just joking with him, but at the same time, she was part of the media and they had made up some pretty wild stuff about him before.

Gatsby laughed loudly when she said that she was the exception to his usual rule. The rule that if he showed up a girl would be enamoured with him. Then she conceded, “Your face is quite nice.” Gatsby punched the air in triumph, “Hell yeah!” He shouted, a couple of people turned around but Gatsby didn’t notice them. He laughed and then nudged her with his elbow, “I have a sneaking suspicion that you like my face a lot more than you are letting on.” He said softly with a jocund grin on his face.

He laughed at her comment about her pretty dress and very obviously checked her out again. He a noise to signify him considering her statement and then said, “Yes, that would be a shame.” He stared at her body for a lingering few seconds and then his eyes flashed back up to her beautiful face.

Rolling his eyes at the witch hat comment, Gatsby sighed and exclaimed, “Did you park your broomstick outside because I could do with a lift home?” He put another piece of sushi in his mouth and then laughed when she called him a goofball, “This is how we do it in merry England!” He exclaimed, putting on a prim and proper English accent and sitting up extremely straight. Gatsby lifted the fallen California roll off the table and popped it into his mouth,“Thank you!” He said with a grin that exposed the rice on his teeth. He quickly washed them away with some sake and turned back to look at her being fancy.

Avery was noting that he was acting like he was an over excited puppy, with the way he was too excited for a normal person did. But he started growing on her after several times of hanging out with him. At first, it annoyed her but she ended up giving him a chance and kept just talking to him. She glanced up at him, and played with the idea to assure him that she was just joking around, but she enjoyed making people suffer. "Or maybe I can just tell them your dating some guy that works at a strip joint." she teased him, with a small smirk.

Watching and hearing his response, then heard him and let out a soft giggle out and she knew that the girls on the more shyer side would be blushing like mad. "Well everyone has their suspicions." she responded, not confirming it nor denying it. She wasn't going to confirm it since she was bad with everything involving feelings; however, she couldn't bring herself to deny it. She felt as vulnerable as she's ever felt. She listened to him and already noticed that he checked her out, she playfully rolled her eyes, "Of course, being naked isn't fun around lots of people." she said, it was obvious to anyone who personally knew her that she said that for obvious reasons.

Hearing his question, "I left it in my cleaning supplies." she answered, as she was picking up her drink to take a sip of it. Then she heard him with his little accent, she caught herself lightly nibbling her bottom lip and made herself stop doing it. "Well this is America, we do things a little different." she replied to him, with a playful glare. "You're welcome." she said. She came from a rather home filled with money, parties, and dinners. Her parents tried to hook her up with someone plenty of times, they usually went home crying from what Avery said to them.

“As long as he’s well hung.” Gatsby instructed Avery to lie about his strip club boyfriend. He laughed out loud when an old woman turned to scrutinise him and gave her the finger. Snorting those lines couldn’t be blamed anymore – he had been here much too long for that. It was simply the alcohol now.

Gatsby raised his eyebrows and looked at her accusingly when she conceded that everyone had their suspicions. He could tell that she was trying her best to remain neutral, as only an interviewer could. “Mine are more than suspicions.” He teased, leaning forwards so that he was closer to her. Anyone who knew Gatsby knew that her was a notorious streaker so he disagreed with her last statement, “It’s lots of fun if you run as fast as you can.” Gatsby offered with a wicked grin. The number of people who had seen him au natural were too numerous to count. Gatsby didn’t mind, he had nothing to hide and certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

Gatsby rolled his eyes when she told him her broomstick was with her cleaning supplies. He shook his head slightly and drank some more sake. “I refuse to bow to your cultural conformation!” Gatsby announced, loudly enough so that the next few tables could hear him. “I am an Englishman and I shall always be an Englishman.” He adopted the prim and proper voice again and smirked at her when he was done. He stuffed a California roll and leant back in defeat. He had finally hit the wall – there was no way he could force more sushi into his belly now. Nearly three hours of rice based snacks would do that to a guy. Gatsby sat forward again, suddenly, and grasped his sake and took a long drink. He smiled at her and wondered what he should say next.

Hearing his statement, made her let put a giggle and considered the possiblity of getting him out of this situation but it amuse her at the reactions she had. "Nope, poor little guy, he's four inches thick. Did I mention bread like Chinese or something." she countered his acceptance. She knew that he was most certainly gone by now, and now she was simply going to observe to see how far he's gone from his actual mind.

Avery was an excellent observer and noticed the smallest amount of detail, usually it was able to keep her mind busy; However that wasn't always the case like spending time with friends. Hearing his comment towards het being neutral to the situation at hand. "oh? And whatis your evidence on this accession?" she responded to him, lifting an eyebrow towards him with a questioning look. She's seen things that she's not proud of admiring and others she has, an she's seen him streaking and usually makes comments to the public about the naked mile. "everyone is intilted to their own opinion." she replied to him. But her own the other hand, people didn't seen her skin in a revealing way. Only a select few has been able to get down and dirty with her. But sometimes sex was just sex, no attachments and certainly no feelings to be hurt during.

She listened to all of his last responses and stopped the waiter, "Can I have the ticket, please." she told him, it wad her way of telling them that the two of them should be leaving soon. Then her eyes turned to him, "let's go walking, to the beach, or some sort of closed buildings." she suggested. She wasn't planning on sleeping with him in a sexual way, but she could use something to cuddle with in this state of being.

why do good girls like bad guys?

Gatsby smirked and shrugged when she refused to make his mythical boyfriend well hung. Gatsby leant forward and whispered, as softly as he could in his liqueur voice, “What does it matter? We both know that he would be my bitch..” He leant back with a satisfied look on his face and watched her expression.

Gatsby shook his head and tutted when she asked how he knew that she liked him, “A magician never reveals his secrets.” Then he frowned and leaned closer forward, “Hang on,” He muttered, licking his thumb and wiping her cheek, “You had something written on your face there.” He leant back in his seat and grinned at her, wondering if she understood what he meant.

Avery asked for the bill and suggested that they would go for a walk or something. Gatsby wondered if he legs still worked considering how long he had been sitting. “Whatever you want.” He said, waving a hand nonchalantly in front of his face and smiling a lazy smile at her. He dug around in his pockets and handed the waiter $150 and asked if it covered it, the waiter, embarrassed, shook his head and had to tell Gatsby he owed another twenty dollars. Gatsby handed him another fifty, excused himself to go to the bathroom and snorted a small amount of cocaine to ward off the come down. He remerged from the bathroom and brightly, with newly dancing eye asked, “Shall we go?”

Avery watched how his facial structure when she had refused to make his pretend boyfriend rather large, into a poor desperate little man. She heard him and let out a small giggle, before she let out a smirk, "It does matter, you don't know what his personality is." she responded, then adding, "Besides if i'm suppose to like your face, you'd be my bitch. Not the other way around." she said, before taking a sip of her drink. When she listened to his comment about the magician thing, she was starting to finish up her food, then she watched him lick his thump and wiped her face and listened to his comment, narrowing her eyes, "I'm not drooling over you." she replied quickly. She lost control over her being neutral because he touched her face, but she also realized that she said it a little too mean and he might even notice that, and because it was worded the way it was, that she did in fact have a thing for him. A lot of psychology was needing to be used to figure her out, but she doesn't completely understand herself.

Hearing him and lifted an eyebrow, "Are you sure that's safe?" she asked, she was obviously amused. And she was going to pay for it, since she had blood money but she just let him pay for it and stood out of her chair. And when he was gone, she had enough time to make the people stop looking over at them using pure words and psychology moves and waited until he came back to put back on her smile, "We shall." she answered, looping her arm with his and leading him out the door.

Ave's ended up taking him to the beach, a saculuted spot where other people wasn't around, so they was actually alone. Other people might get a little spooked with being taken advantage of or being killed when the amount of intoxicated Gatsby seemed to be. She sat down on the said, she put her shoes beside her since she had taken them off when they got to the sanded areas. She grabbed his hand, pulling down pretty hard to get him to sit down.

lacerations to my ego

Gatsby smiled at her when she said that he would be her bitch, he arched an eyebrow and scrutinised her face for a moment, “I wouldn’t be so sure about that.” He teased her, leaning forward and looking right in her eyes. He bit his lip and gave her a sexy look and lowered his eyebrow. He cocked his head to one side when she claimed that she wasn’t drooling over him. “Methinks she doth protest too much!” Gatsby giggled, quoting Shakespeare.

Gatsby had always hated English and English Literature as subjects because they had been his mother’s favourite subjects in school. For God’s sake, Gatsby was named after a book and his brother was named after a play. He was given a stupid name and then he was abandoned, and as irrational as it was, Gatsby took out his anger on English. The irony was that Gatsby was very talented at English and English Literature – he often got top marks in his class. But he couldn’t find it in himself to forgive the subject for what his mother did to him.

“Are you sure that’s safe?” She asked him when he said they could do whatever she wanted. Gatsby laughed and looked at her with mock incredulity, “Now, now, Avery, you wouldn’t take advantage of me, would you?” He asked her with a lopsided grin and startled eyes. After his bathroom trip he was met by her linking arms with him and dragging him out of the door. Gatsby half stumbled and half skipped beside her.

When they were on the beach Avery took off her shoes and sat down. Gatsby watched her, enjoying the view from above and smiling at her. She pulled him down quite aggressively and Gatsby fell into sitting position and then on to his back, “I feel like you are compromising my integrity.” Gatsby slurred, his mind was racing, his knees felt like there were bees inside them, buzzing around and annoying him. He sat up again and leant on his right hand, looking at her with his drunken, high eyes and said, “Now what?”
